Product Description From the author of the long-running # 1 bestseller StrengthsFinder 2.0 comes a landmark study of great leaders, teams, and the reasons why people follow. Nearly a decade ago, Gallup unveiled the results of a landmark 30-year research project that ignited a global conversation on the topic of strengths. More than 3 million people have since taken Gallup's StrengthsFinder assessment, which forms the core of several books on this topic, including the #1 international bestseller StrengthsFinder 2.0. In recent years, while continuing to learn more about strengths, Gallup scientists have also been examining decades of data on the topic of leadership. They studied more than 1 million work teams, conducted more than 20,000 in-depth interviews with leaders, and even interviewed more than 10,000 followers around the world to ask exactly why they followed the most important leader in their life. In Strengths Based Leadership, #1 New York Times bestselling author Tom Rath and renowned leadership consultant Barry Conchie reveal the results of this research. Based on their discoveries, the book identifies three keys to being a more effective leader: knowing your strengths and investing in others' strengths, getting people with the right strengths on your team, and understanding and meeting the four basic needs of those who look to you for leadership. As you read Strengths Based Leadership, you'll hear firsthand accounts from some of the most successful organizational leaders in recent history, from the founder of Teach For America to the president of The Ritz-Carlton, as they discuss how their unique strengths have driven their success. Filled with novel research and actionable ideas, Strengths Based Leadership will give you a new road map for leading people toward a better future.

There is no code in this book July 26, 2010 World Traveler I bought this book new so I could take the Strengths Finder 2.0 assessment. When I opened the packet with the code, there was a silver sticker over where the code should have been. There was nothing in the description warning that the codes, for some undisclosed reason, were not available. This was a rip off.
awsome book for management student July 19, 2010 Mr. Vineeth V. Philip (IOWA USA) This book puts you on a thought provoking trip to figure out why many things work the way it is currently and points us to what we can do as an individual. It speaks out for you on things you have experienced at your work place and help you comprehend how subtle things could bring around a major change to work culture to help the overall effective execution of projects that seem to be in limbo. A must read for MBA aspires.
This is the Missing Strengthsfinder Book for Teams! June 25, 2010 Don Harkey (Springfield, MO) The Strengthsfinder assessment is a powerful tool for discovering your strengths, but past editions have failed to address how different strengths work with each other. When this book came out, a friend called me and said, "they wrote the missing Strengthsfinder Book!". This book not only includes the assessment (which you need to take if you haven't already), it also includes descriptions of how different strengths work together for form a stronger team. I have had clients take this assessment and analyze the strengths of their own teams and it has been very enlightening!
The Strengths of Strengths-Based Leadership... June 4, 2010 Nancy B. (Omaha) Strengths-Based Leadership can be best described as a nutritious meal served up for leaders who hunger for knowledge that will improve their ability to motivate and encourage others. This reader devoured Strengths Based Leadership and gleaned beneficial, dare I say, essential insight very quickly into the read and through its conclusion.
Part 2: Maximizing Your Team included fresh concepts that serve as excellent examples of leader effectiveness. The four domains of leadership strengths were new to this reader and will have a tremendous immediate impact upon our leadership team. As a matter of fact, ideas from this book have already been shared with a gathering of staff. The paradigm shift from striving to develop well-rounded team members to maximizing individual strengths is complex but will be supported within our leadership team as we adopt this methodology and philosophy.
The insights gained from understanding followers' four basic needs of trust, compassion, stability and hope, were numerous and have broad application for all stakeholders. The read is intended for leaders, but the benefits to their followers are substantial. One can hear the thunderous applause of followers appreciative of being appreciated. This book satisfies the reader's craving for cutting-edge leadership skill-building through its interesting content and significant value.
Good Buy May 31, 2010 Rob (St. Paul, MN) I had accidentally purchased this book instead of Strengthsfinder 2.0 for a course in my school's curriculum. This book had much more information than the required book, but the breakdown of the different strengths was less than Strengthsfinder 2.0. This book further breaks down Strengths into three different categories which demonstrates which kind of strengths (in a broad sense) you possess.
